EPCOT Ran Hot Again — Two Levels Above Its Own Normal as Food & Wine Filled the Walkways For the third time this week, EPCOT was the park sitting furthest from where it usually lands. Friday’s 20-minute median is a 6/10 on our percentile scale and lands two full levels above the park’s own 30-day norm of around 3/10. Everywhere else on property stayed close to routine. If you were deciding where not to spend a comfortable touring morning Friday, EPCOT was the answer — and the Food & Wine Festival is the obvious reason the walkways around World Showcase stayed packed. The weather did EPCOT no favors in that regard: a warm, mostly clear day that topped out near 88°F is exactly the kind of afternoon that turns a festival into a slow stroll between booths. But warmth is a modifier here, not the driver. The festival is. Park by park EPCOT’s peak came early and strange — an 8:00 AM median of 35 minutes, which points to early-entry guests stacking onto the headliners before the festival crowd even arrived. Then Test Track went down from 11:31 AM to 2:23 PM, nearly three hours during the busiest stretch of the day, and that pushed demand onto the quieter half of the park. You can see it in the small stuff: The Seas with Nemo, Figment, and Gran Fiesta Tour all doubled their typical five-minute walk-ons into ten-minute lines. None of those are rides people line up for — they became air-conditioned detours while Test Track sat idle. Magic Kingdom ran a 6/10 at a 16-minute median, a touch above its baseline but nothing a guest would feel. Its 11:00 AM peak hit 25 minutes before easing. The more interesting reads were the spinners — Astro Orbiter at 20 minutes, Magic Carpets at 15, Dumbo and the Carrousel both doubled. When the kiddie circle-rides back up like that, it usually means a family-heavy day, not a thrill-seeker one. Under the Sea climbing to 20 minutes against a typical five tells the same story. Hollywood Studios actually ran slightly below its own norm, a 5/10 at a 34-minute median, with an 11:00 AM peak of 55 minutes on the headliners. Star Tours was the oddity — a 25-minute wait against its usual five, a 400% jump that likely reflects guests riding out one of the morning’s several headliner outages. Animal Kingdom stayed light at 3/10, though its 6:00 PM peak of 35 minutes shows the usual dinner-hour surge as guests cram Everest and the safari before close. Downtime report Two long outages shaped the day. Expedition Everest was offline from 4:08 PM to 7:00 PM — almost three hours gone right as Animal Kingdom was building toward its evening peak, which is why that 6:00 PM crush felt sharper than the park’s crowd level suggests. EPCOT’s Test Track closure, equally long, hit midday and redistributed guests across the Future World attractions as described above. Magic Kingdom had a scattered day of its own: “it’s a small world” went down twice for over an hour each time, Pirates of the Caribbean closed for 70 minutes early afternoon, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train lost its first half-hour of the morning. At Hollywood Studios, Rise of the Resistance stumbled through two evening closures and Toy Story Mania went down twice — a rough stretch for anyone holding a late Lightning Lane there. Today’s forecast — Saturday, November 7 One number dominates today: Magic Kingdom is an 8/10, with an expected median around 25 minutes. That’s the park to work around, not through. EPCOT and Animal Kingdom both land at 6/10 (roughly 30 and 27 minutes), steady but manageable. The real opportunity is Hollywood Studios at a 1/10 — but read the fine print. Disney Jollywood Nights takes over tonight, so the park closes early to day guests. That early closure is exactly why daytime demand craters: fewer people buy a day ticket for a park that shuts down mid-evening. If you can tour efficiently and don’t mind leaving before the party, Studios is the clear best play of the day. Our engine nailed Studios and Animal Kingdom yesterday and missed Magic Kingdom and EPCOT by a single level each — so treat the 8/10 at Magic Kingdom as a firm steer, not a soft one. Weather won’t save you: a clear, 81°F Saturday means no afternoon reprieve from crowds. With Magic Kingdom packed and Lightning Lanes selling out fast on a day like this, Slinky, Seven Dwarfs, and the headliners will show “sold out” by mid-morning — but Disney releases fresh availability all day long. Lightning Brain alerts you the instant a sold-out Lightning Lane comes back, so you grab the drop before anyone else notices. Now available at lightningbrain.app and on the App Store!
