Hollywood Studios’ Headliners Spent the Morning Fighting Their Own Downtime If you had a Rise of the Resistance boarding plan Thursday, it probably didn’t survive contact with the morning. Disney’s biggest draw at Hollywood Studios was offline from 8:31 to nearly noon — more than three straight hours — and it came back only to drop again twice in the evening. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster stacked its own outages on top of that, closing three separate times before 1 PM. The park’s overall numbers looked tame, but the two rides most people rope-drop for were the two fighting hardest to stay open. Weather wasn’t the culprit. It was a warm, mostly clear day — high near 87, not a drop of rain — so nothing outside forced those closures. This was mechanical, and it reshaped where the morning crowd actually waited. Park by park Hollywood Studios landed at a 5/10 with a 30-minute median — a touch below its own 35-minute norm, which tells you demand was ordinary even if reliability wasn’t. The peak hit at 11 AM at 45 minutes, and that’s no coincidence: with Rise down all morning, guests piled onto whatever was running. Star Tours is the tell, sitting at 20 minutes against a usual 5 — quadruple its normal wait as displaced Rise riders looked for something, anything, in that corner of the park. EPCOT ran a notch above its own baseline, a 4/10 on a 17-minute median where a 3 is typical. Food & Wine is in full swing, and the festival pulls bodies without necessarily pulling queue demand — people drift between booths more than they line up for rides. The 11 AM peak of 25 minutes was modest. The Seas with Nemo & Friends doubled to 10 minutes, the kind of small bump you’d expect from festival guests ducking into air conditioning. Magic Kingdom sat right where it belongs — a 5/10, 16-minute median, barely above norm, peaking at 1 PM. The Fantasyland people-eaters did their usual quiet work: Under the Sea climbed to 20 minutes (normally a walk-on 5), while Barnstormer, the PeopleMover, and a handful of spinners all ran double their typical waits. None of that is alarming; it’s the signature of a comfortable midweek day where families spread into the low-capacity rides. Animal Kingdom was the easiest park on property, a 2/10 with a 15-minute median and a 10 AM peak. Expedition Everest actually ran below its usual wait. If you wanted elbow room Thursday, this was the answer. Downtime report Beyond the Hollywood Studios mess, EPCOT had two headliners stumble. Spaceship Earth was offline for three and a half hours in the evening, from 4:20 to 7:50 PM — a long stretch to lose the park’s icon right as the dinner-hour crowd builds. Test Track also went down for nearly three hours mid-morning, from 9:51 to 12:50. With both of EPCOT’s signature attractions out of commission across the busiest part of the day, Future World guests had thin pickings, which helps explain why Living with the Land and Nemo absorbed the overflow. Over at Magic Kingdom, TRON dropped for about 40 minutes in the early evening and “it’s a small world” went down for a half hour — brief enough that most guests simply rerouted. Today’s forecast Our engine calls Friday, November 6, a clustered-middle day: Hollywood Studios at a 5/10 (expect about 38 minutes), EPCOT at a 5/10 (around 29 minutes), Magic Kingdom at a 5/10 (about 21 minutes), and Animal Kingdom at a 3/10 (roughly 22 minutes). Best park today is Animal Kingdom; the one to work around is Hollywood Studios. A quick honesty check on yesterday’s scorecard: we nailed Animal Kingdom and best-park, came within a level on Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, but missed EPCOT badly — we called a 2 and it came in a 4. Food & Wine demand ran stronger than the model expected, and today’s EPCOT number leans into that correction. Early entry is live at all four parks, so if you’re eligible, use that first hour on Rise of the Resistance before yesterday’s reliability pattern has a chance to repeat. Skies are clear and warm again, so no weather disruptions to plan around — just the usual: hit the headliners early, save the festival booths for midday.
