EPCOT Ran Hot While the Rest of the Resort Stayed Easy EPCOT was the park that moved. While three of the four parks sat within a hair of their own baselines on Tuesday, EPCOT climbed two levels above its typical day — a 17.7-minute median that ran about 18% over its 30-day norm. That’s not a crush by any measure, but on a property where most everything else was coasting, EPCOT was the one place where you could feel the pressure build. The driver is no mystery: Food & Wine is in full swing, and World Showcase fills up when the booths are pouring. Weather played supporting cast, not lead. Tuesday topped out at 83°F under mostly cloudy skies with a trace of rain — warm, sticky, 85% humidity. Comfortable enough that nobody was chased indoors, but warm enough that air-conditioned queues and shaded showcases had their appeal. Park by Park At EPCOT, the interesting wrinkle is that the festival doesn’t spike the headliners so much as the quiet rides. The Seas with Nemo & Friends doubled to a 10-minute wait, and that’s the tell — guests drifting between food booths duck into the nearest cool, slow-moving attraction. Peak landed at 11 AM with a 30-minute median, early for a park that usually builds through the afternoon, which lines up with morning festival strollers arriving before the heat. Magic Kingdom sat at a 7/10 on our percentile scale — busier than it reads on paper, since its median was still just 16.7 minutes. The story there is timing: MK peaked late, at 5 PM with a 25-minute median, the classic afternoon fill as resort guests circle back after midday breaks. Fantasyland did the heavy lifting on the margins. Under the Sea climbed to 20 minutes against its usual 5, and the spinner circuit — Dumbo, Barnstormer, Magic Carpets — all ran triple their baseline. None of that is alarming, but it’s the signature of a park with steady families working the low-capacity kiddie rides. Hollywood Studios was the quiet one, running a notch below its own normal at a 29.6-minute median. Even its noon peak of 40 minutes is manageable for HS. Animal Kingdom barely registered, sitting right at its very-light baseline around 17 minutes — the calmest ticket on property and comfortable touring all day. Downtime: A Rough Morning for Two Headliners Two closures shaped the day. Haunted Mansion went down at 9:30 AM and stayed offline nearly three hours, through 12:24 PM — a brutal window for one of Magic Kingdom’s most-wanted mornings. Guests who rope-dropped Liberty Square had to pivot, and you can see neighboring Fantasyland waits absorbing some of that displaced demand through late morning. Over at Hollywood Studios, Rise of the Resistance had a genuinely stop-start day, dropping four separate times — twice before 10:15 AM, again for over an hour after lunch, and once more in the early evening. Star Tours also opened rough, offline until 9:44 AM, then spent the day as an unexpected outlier at a 25-minute average, roughly five times its usual. EPCOT wasn’t spared either: Frozen Ever After went down twice, once at midday and again around 7 PM, pushing festival guests toward the showcase pavilions during both windows. Today’s Call: Wednesday, November 4 First, the honest scorecard. Yesterday’s engine nailed the best park (Animal Kingdom) and the avoid park (Magic Kingdom), and landed within a level on three of four. But it called Magic Kingdom a 5 and MK came in at a 7 — a two-level miss. We underestimated the MK afternoon. Noted. For today, the engine reads it this way: Magic Kingdom — 5/10, ~22 min. The avoid pick. Early entry is live for resort guests, and note Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is now down for refurbishment, so Frontierland loses a pressure valve. Hollywood Studios — 4/10, ~35 min. Steady and manageable, in line with yesterday. EPCOT — 3/10, ~26 min. Food & Wine keeps it lively, but the engine sees it easing from Tuesday’s bump. Animal Kingdom — 2/10, ~19 min. The best park today. If you want the shortest lines and the least friction, this is where to spend the morning. The move: start at Animal Kingdom at early entry, then decide whether to hop. Save Magic Kingdom for later in the week if you can, or hit its headliners at rope drop before that 5 PM wall arrives. Know Which Park to Be In Tuesday’s spread — EPCOT running warm while Animal Kingdom coasted — is exactly the kind of gap that decides your day.
