The Parks

Peter Pan’s Flight went offline Monday, September 21, and stayed that way. No wall text, no reopening estimate, nothing. Guests who lined up Tuesday morning got the same shrug Disney gave them Monday night. For a ride that routinely posts standby waits north of 40 minutes on a normal evening, an indefinite closure is a real hole in Fantasyland’s lineup.

That wait-time detail matters more than it sounds. Data from a typical 2025 night shows Peter Pan’s Flight at 41 minutes standby at 8:00 p.m., then dropping to 28 minutes fifteen minutes into Happily Ever After. Jungle Cruise fell from 28 to 12. Winnie the Pooh’s line nearly halved. The fireworks entertain the crowd and drain it off the mid-tier attractions across the park. Anyone touring Magic Kingdom without a plan for that eight-minute window after the first shell bursts is leaving ride time on the table, closure or no closure.

Snacking remains the smarter play at Magic Kingdom regardless. The AllEars team keeps coming back to the same twelve items trip after trip, a tacit admission that the park’s sit-down and quick-service menus aren’t where the magic happens. Grab-and-go has always been Magic Kingdom’s actual food strategy, closures notwithstanding.

Over at BoardWalk, The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant by Gwendolyn Rogers is running full breakfast, lunch, and dinner service, giving that resort corridor a legitimate all-day dining option it hasn’t had. And in Disney Springs, a $3 treat reviewed this week won’t be sticking around, so if dark chocolate is your thing, that clock is already running.

The Shows

Darkwing Duck is coming back, and Disney didn’t half-step the casting. Mark Hamill takes the cape for the new Disney+ series, with Seth Rogen voicing Launchpad McQuack, Lizzy Caplan as Gosalyn Mallard, and Lilimar joining as a new character named Duckie. A Hamill-led revival of a cult DuckTales spinoff is the kind of swing that either becomes appointment viewing for a very specific generation or completely baffles everyone else. Given the cast, bet on the former.

Less cheerful news out of the Marvel side. Daredevil: Born Again is ending after its upcoming third season, and showrunner Dario Scardapane has already exited while that season is still in post-production. Marvel didn’t renew his contract, and the timing, roughly two months after filming wrapped, reads like a franchise winding down rather than one pausing for a breather.

Netflix, meanwhile, is building out its own physical footprint. The KPop Demon Hunters attraction inside Netflix House now has opening dates and details, letting guests battle demons alongside HUNTR/X and meet Derpy Tiger in person. Streaming services building walk-through attractions used to be a novelty. It’s becoming a category.

The Business

The real story this week is structural. Disney Consumer Products is moving the majority of its operations out of Disney Experiences and into Disney Entertainment, effective October 4, 2026. DCP’s global licensing and publishing businesses will now sit under Disney Entertainment , Studios, putting the division that turns characters into merchandise closer to the studios that create those characters in the first place.

Company leadership framed it as a story-first move, with Mazloum and Bergman saying DCP does its best work when story comes first. Strip the language down and the logic is straightforward: merchandise decisions get made closer to the people making the shows and movies, not the people running the parks. That’s a meaningful shift in who has influence over what gets licensed and when. Watch whether park merchandising strategy starts feeling more studio-driven as a result.

The Details

Disney Cruise Line just made its loyalty play bigger. The 25% off Placeholder Reservation deal, previously capped well before this, now extends to sailings through September 2027, more than doubling the standard 10% discount guests are used to seeing. For anyone who books a placeholder onboard before disembarking, this is the exact kind of expanded window that turns a routine rebooking habit into a real value play. It’s the same offer, just with a longer runway than DCL has given it before.

Halloween merchandise season is also ramping at Disney Parks Blog, with new collections rolling out across Disney Store and partner brands. And for anyone planning a kitchen-table version of the holiday, D23 published a Serpent’s Stew recipe from The Big Book of Disney Eats, chorizo, potatoes, and serpent breadsticks included, built for guests who’d rather villain-theme their dinner than their outfit.
