Same queue, same day, three different answers We walked one identical standby queue three separate times on one day. The three trips took 8.2 minutes, 6.3 minutes and 3.5 minutes. Nothing about the queue changed. What changed was how the line was being fed at that exact moment, which is why a single posted number has to cover a moving target. They behave very differently attraction by attraction. Some refresh every few minutes and track the crowd closely. Others sit on one number for hours while the line underneath fills up and drains. Every fifteen minutes, for twenty two attractions. Darker means the posted number moved more. For you, that means the trustworthiness of a sign depends on which sign it is. A number that has been frozen for two hours is telling you less about right now than one that has moved four times since lunch. The hard part is indoors Phone GPS gives up the second you walk through a building door, which is exactly where the long queues live. So we lean on the other sensors in a modern phone, the ones that pick up elevation, speed, wobble and distance. In plain terms, the phone can tell the difference between standing still and shuffling forward, even in a windowless switchback where satellites are useless. We also found a large group of guests who had the app open in a park and were contributing nothing to this, because of how we had been asking for location permission. Over a 45 day window, about a third of the app users we saw had granted the setting that lets the app keep working with the phone in a pocket. Most were on a weaker setting that only worked while they were actively staring at the screen. We rebuilt that flow, so more guests get the benefit without babysitting a phone all day.
