Here’s the number that frames everything: this week’s resort-wide median wait was 15 minutes, which ranks as lighter than every other day we’ve logged in 2026 so far — 227 days of data, and this was the bottom. The trigger wasn’t subtle. Central Florida’s biggest school districts — Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Polk — all rang the first bell between Monday and Tuesday. When the locals go back to class, the parks exhale. If you’d been holding out for a walk-on-everything week, this was it, and the calendar all but guaranteed it.

Week at a Glance

Across the resort, the week ran light to comfortable — nothing that could honestly be called busy. The 15-minute median came in below last week’s 20 and undercut a 6-week rolling average that had been parked stubbornly at 20 minutes for a month straight. Two forces did the shaping: the back-to-school drop-off, which pulled the annual-passholder and local-family base out of the parks, and a pair of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party nights at Magic Kingdom that quietly reshuffled where the remaining crowds landed. Weather isn’t part of the story this week — no meaningful operational impact showed up in the data. The headline in one line: school starting emptied the resort to its lowest point of the year, and Hollywood Studios was the only park that ever felt genuinely full.

Park-by-Park

Hollywood Studios owned whatever crowd pressure existed this week, holding a 35-minute median that landed it at a 4/10 — dead even with its 6-week baseline while the other three parks softened around it. The Tuesday spike tells the real tale: HS jumped to a 45-minute median (7/10) on the same day Magic Kingdom hosted its first party of the week. With MK closing to day guests at 6 PM, displaced visitors went looking for a full-day park, and Studios absorbed them. Friday’s second party night produced a smaller echo — 40 minutes, still heavy for a mid-August afternoon. Between those peaks, Wednesday’s 30-minute median showed what HS looks like when nothing is pushing extra bodies through its gates.

Animal Kingdom delivered the week’s best touring value and the most interesting shape. Its median landed at 20 minutes — a 3/10, and a full fifth below its own baseline. Midweek was superb: Tuesday and Wednesday both bottomed out at 15-minute medians, putting Flight of Passage and Everest within easy reach for anyone willing to walk a little. Then Saturday flipped the tempo — a 35-minute median (6/10) that made it the resort’s busiest park for the day as weekend visitors, unbound by school schedules, filled the trails. The park essentially ran two different weeks stacked back to back: featherlight Sunday through Friday, moderately busy for one Saturday.

Magic Kingdom spent the week as a study in party-night suppression. Its 15-minute median (4/10) matched baseline, but the two party days told the story underneath: both Tuesday and Friday sank to 10-minute medians, the lightest readings anywhere on the board. That’s the expected MNSSHP fingerprint — fewer guests buy a day ticket for a park they know shuts to them at 6 PM. The Fantasyland kiddie circuit ran especially quiet, with Dumbo, the Barnstormer, and the Magic Carpets of Aladdin all posting waits roughly a third below their own norms. On a party morning, those lands are as close to empty as they get.

EPCOT was the metronome — a flat 15-minute median (3/10) every single day, Sunday through Saturday, without a single spike or dip. The steadiness is genuinely unusual; most parks wobble day to day, but EPCOT simply held its line all week.

The pattern is cleaner than most weeks. Hollywood Studios sat at the top nearly every day because it’s the park guests default to when they want a full day and the others are running short hours or hosting parties. Magic Kingdom’s two lightest days landed precisely on its two party days — that’s causation you can basically set your watch by. And Saturday’s handoff to Animal Kingdom is the weekend signature: with school out of the equation for exactly one day, leisure visitors chased the park with the marquee headliners.

Reliability Report

EPCOT carried the week’s operational weight, and it wasn’t close. Test Track stumbled through 33 separate downtime incidents and Spaceship Earth logged 29 — the two most-interrupted attractions on property by a wide margin. For a guest, that meant Test Track was a repeated coin-flip: walk up, find it down, circle back later. Guardians of the Galaxy chipped in 13 incidents of its own, so EPCOT’s marquee trio all had rough patches. The saving grace was timing — with the park sitting at a 3/10 all week, guests had the slack to simply loop back when a ride reopened rather than burn a scarce Lightning Lane. Over at Hollywood Studios, Slinky Dog Dash went down across 15 incidents; on a busier week that would sting at rope drop, but light crowds softened the blow for anyone who had to pivot to Tower of Terror or Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster instead.

Weather Impact
